About
Hi, my name is Casey Girard. I studied Illustration and Graphic Design at RIT in upstate NY. I currently work out of the Asheville, NC.
I am an illustrator, naturalist, and educator. In 2006 I began my career as a marketing designer for the Children’s Publishing Industry, moving into freelance after 2009.
Then I worked with two self-publishers to bring their books to production, by illustrating their books and designing the layouts.
My life then took a curve as I moved to California. There I began working as a substitute teacher and librarian at a Nursery through Middle School. I also began leading bird walks, which expanded into studying to become a docent at the Stanford Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve.
Now my work and personal life reflect my twin passions of art and science, and between balancing work and motherhood, I travel to preserved nature spaces for citizen/community science, education, and inspiration.
In recent years I have draw a series of Black Birders and Latino Conservationists to promote their outstanding environmental conservation work.
